Spring Break

Last week was Nate's Spring Break.
We spent the first couple of days in Sun Valley with family and friends.
Nate skied and I stayed with Kate.
Kate and I met up with everyone in the lodge while they gave their legs a rest.

I had to add this photo of Tanner.  He has some serious hair issues.
Kate had a rough couple of days when we were in Sun Valley.
As you can see from the pictures she wouldn't even crack a smile.
When anyone besides me or Nate held her she would pretty much freak out.
Grandma Sally was so sad about this.
She likes to pride herself on her baby soothing techniques but Kate was not having it.
Kate just wanted her mommy:)
I decided to go off of dairy and it seems to be helping.
Kate has been a much happier baby recently!

This face kills me. I love her!

After Sun Valley we headed to Pocatello.
Me and Kate spent our days hanging with family, sleeping, Kate even took a nap in her car seat so I could play tennis, picking out fabric for Kate's crib, shopping, and me taking way too many cute pictures of Kate.  Nate spent a lot of his time working on his upper division paper:( Not the most exciting thing to be doing on his break but he needs to get that stupid paper done!

Luckily, Nate did take some time to hang with his little gal.

It was a nice little break for our family.
We have loved being close to family these past couple of months.
Every couple of weeks we get to see them and they get to see Kate and how she is changing and growing.  They sure spoil her and love her.
We love that they love her so much!

Kate's Blessing

Kate received a special blessing from her daddy on February 17th.
Nate gave her a beautiful blessing.  I am so grateful he holds the priesthood and uses it on a daily bases to bless our home.
Nate blessed  Kate that she would have no other desire than to return to her Heavenly Father's presence.  That she would come to understand the Atonement and how it works in her life.  He blessed her to have a desire to read the scriptures and come to know the promises and blessing in store for her.  He blessed her to have a desire to come to know Heavenly Father and Jesus through prayer.  He also blessed her that she would associate with good people and have a healthy, strong body.
Kate was an angel during the blessing.  I was nervous she was going to start screaming if she was awake so I hoped she would fall asleep right before the blessing. Of course she didn't sleep but she was perfect and wide eyed the whole time.

Kate was lucky enough to get her dress made by her Grandma Sally.
The dress turned out so cute and looked beautiful on Kate.
These great men held Kate in a circle as her dad gave the blessing.
Kate is lucky to have so many great men in her life who love her.

We were blessed to have most of our family at the blessing.
We love our family so much and were grateful for those who traveled to be with us for Kate's special day.

I am so lucky to be Kate's mom.
Kate's blessing day was so special and I really felt the love her Heavenly Father has for her.

2 Months

It is hard to believe Kate is 2 months.
I remember watching a baby for a day last year and it was the longest day of my life.
I was afraid it would be that way when I had a child but thank goodness there not.
Days with Kate go by so fast and we don't even do much.
I'm surprised how fast they go and some days I wish time would slow down.

Kate's first month of life was easy but her second month has not been as easy.
Some days Kate is so hard.
She is a horrible napper.  She loves her cat naps.
She naps best when being held and if I try and put her down she wakes right up.
It's the worst.
Kate can sometimes be super fussy.
It's usually when she's not getting enough sleep during the  day.
By the evening she is overly tired and it can be hard to calm her down to get her to sleep.
But once she is asleep she sleeps really good!
Kate loves to be held.
She is not content to lay on her back or sit in her swing while mommy gets things done.
I really hate to hear Kate cry so I hold her a lot.
For the most part I love holding her and realize I won't be able to do this with other kids.
I'm trying to enjoy this time I have with her because I know in a couple of months she will not want to be held.

She is still cute when she cries.
Even though Kate can be hard, I love spending my days with her.
I wouldn't want it any other way.
Kate had her 2 month checkup last week.
She is now 9lb 8oz and 21.5 in.
She is in the 10th and 12th percentile.

Every day Kate is growing and learning and it is so fun to watch her.
When she smiles her whole face lights up.
I pretty much melt every time she smiles at me.

When Kate will sit in her swing she likes to touch the cat that hangs down.
She sometimes gets so excited when she touches it.
It is so fun to watch her get excited when she has done something by herself.

Kate is beginning to be more responsive to mine and Nate's voices.
She thinks we are the greatest.
We are waiting for the day when she gives us a "real" laugh.

I think Kate is a beautiful baby.
She has amazing eyes with great, long, dark eyelashes.
Her olive skin color is so pretty, too.
She is pretty much perfect.

When my baby Kate goes down at night I am so grateful she is mine.
I watch her as she sleeps peacefully in her bassinet and thank my Heavenly Father for her.
I want her to stay like this forever but I also cannot wait for her to grow up.
Happy 2 months Kate!

one month

Kate reached the one month mark last Tuesday.

Kate is our noise maker.
She is rarely quiet.
When she is awake there is a lot of grunting and moaning.
When she is asleep there is more grunting, moaning and random outcries.
When she has her pacifier in she is grunting, moaning, and sucking with all her might.
It is going to be difficult taking her anywhere without her making noise.
We like her noises for the most part because it makes her Kate.

In Kate's one month of  life...
She has moved.
She made her first road trip to Sun Valley.
She spent the holidays in Pocatello.
She experienced her first Christmas.
She met her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She slept through her first movie, Les Mieserables.  It may be her last movie as a baby since she is so noisy.

Kate loves her mommy and daddy.
She loves her pacifier.
She loves to lay on mommy and daddy's chest.
She loves to eat.
She loves to sleep.
She loves to cuddle when tired.
She loves to be held.
She loves her hands.
She loves to socialize and doesn't like when people leave her to entertain herself.
She loves to sleep on her stomach and side but only when mommy is supervising.

At one month...
Kate has lost her hair on the top of her head.
Her eyes look blue.
She weighs around 7 1/2 lbs.
She wears newborn diapers.
She fits best in newborn clothes but mostly wears 0-3 month clothes.
